Formaldehyde & Formalin Exposure Monitoring (OSHA 1910.1048)
OSHA's formaldehyde standard is one of the few that spells out monitoring in black and white: employers must conduct initial monitoring of every employee who may be exposed at or above the 0.5 ppm action level or the 2 ppm short-term limit. It applies to hospital pathology departments, standalone histology labs, dermatology Mohs labs, veterinary and research facilities — any place formalin is poured, decanted or worked with at the bench.
