Hybrid Operating Rooms and EP Labs: Pioneering the Future of Healthcare with Medical Testing Solutions

Hybrid operating rooms (ORs) and electrophysiology (EP) labs represent the cutting edge of medical technology, offering advanced surgical and diagnostic capabilities. As a leading provider of installation services and gas management solutions for these state-of-the-art facilities, Medical Testing Solutions (MTS) has established itself as an industry leader in the United States. In this webpage, we delve into the revolutionary nature of hybrid ORs and EP labs, and explore how MTS has become a trusted partner for healthcare institutions seeking to establish these advanced facilities.

Hybrid Operating Rooms (ORs)

Definition and Function:
Hybrid operating rooms are sophisticated surgical suites that seamlessly integrate advanced imaging technologies, such as fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), with traditional surgical equipment. This enables surgeons to perform minimally invasive, image-guided procedures with real-time visualization, resulting in greater precision, improved patient outcomes, and reduced recovery times.

Hybrid ORs cater to a wide range of surgical specialties, including cardiovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and more. Common procedures performed in hybrid ORs include:

Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR)
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
Neurovascular interventions
Robotic-assisted surgeries

Electrophysiology (EP) Labs

Definition and Function:
Electrophysiology labs are specialized facilities designed for the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, or arrhythmias. Equipped with cutting-edge imaging and mapping technologies, EP labs enable physicians to identify the origins of electrical disturbances within the heart and deliver targeted treatments, such as ablation or implantation of devices like pacemakers and defibrillators.

EP labs are employed for various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:

Electrophysiology studies (EPS)

Catheter ablation
Implantation of cardiac rhythm management devices
Device lead extraction
