WAGD or Waste Anesthesia Gas Disposal is a practice used to safely remove harmful waste gases from a room or area. In order to saftley perform this process a WAGD hose is connected from an anesthesia machine to a WAGD outlet. In a Dual use implementation, any oxygen or other gases will arrive also be ex-scavenged and will be heavily diluted to render them harmless. In North America a waste gas terminal is located at each anesthetizing location. Typically the waste gas line piped into the medical vacuum line and then back to the medical vacuum pump. NFPA requires the waste gas outlet to be tied into a vacuum line 5 feet from any inlet to prevent back flow.
