Medical gas fittings are gas specific. The use of adapters or conversion fittings to adapt one gas-specific fittings to another is strictly prohibited. When administering medical gases, it is mandatory to use the appropriate fittings for connecting devices to patient care equipment, to ensure safety and for accurate gas delivery. Some of the most common medical gas fittings are quick connections (Ohmeda, Chemetron, Puritan Bennett, Schrader) or DISS style. DISS or diameter safety indexing system is use for ceiling outlets and for high pressure gases.
